SMIC, the leading domestic wafer foundry, made a sudden announcement tonight, announcing the termination of the sale of SMIC Ningbo's equity. SMIC said that the company's wholly-owned subsidiary SMIC Holdings signed an agreement with Hunan Goke Microelectronics Co., Ltd. Goke Microelectronics plans to purchase 94.366% of SMIC Ningbo's equity. However, due to the failure to reach an agreement on the transaction within the estimated time,The parties to the transaction decided to terminate the transaction.
After the termination, SMIC Holdings still holds 14.832% of SMIC Ningbo’s equity.
SMIC stated that the termination of the transaction will not have a significant impact on the company's financial condition.

On June 5, 2025, SMIC announced that SMIC Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMIC, will transfer all 14.832% of its equity in SMIC Ningbo to Goke Micro, which will eventually acquire 94.366% of SMIC Ningbo's equity.
According to the official website, SMIC (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. is jointly invested by industry-related strategic partners, industry investment funds and local industrial investment funds, and settled in Beilun District in 2016.
The company focuses on the field of RF front-end and MEMS sensor special process semiconductors. The core technology and management team are based on professional members who have been engaged in special process R&D and production at SMIC, and have absorbed senior management and technical experts from outstanding domestic and foreign semiconductor companies such as Intel, TSMC, Renesas and Applied Materials.
Since its establishment, the company has always adhered to independent research and development and technological innovation. It launched process technology development in early 2017 and completed the introduction and trial production of the first batch of products that year.
Two special process integrated circuit wafer manufacturing production lines with advanced technology levels in the industry have been built and operated. The 8-inch N1 production line located in Xiaogang Equipment Industrial Park was put into production in November 2018. The N2 project located in Chaiqiao Xingang Town started construction in June 2020, and the move-in of the first machine was completed as scheduled in June 2021.
In 2024, SMIC Ningbo will have a net loss of 813 million, and in the first quarter of 2025, it will have a loss of 150 million.
SMIC Ningbo mainly provides process platform foundry, product solutions, design support and testing services.The RF front-end process is mainly 90-130nm.
