Just 10 years after its completion, the well-known New York landmark building "432 Park Avenue" exposed as many as1893 itemsStructural problems, more than half of which were identified as “life safety risks” by professional assessment agencies. Faced with such a severe situation,The homeowners association took the developer to court with a complaint and filed a claim of up to US$165 million.

The series of data disclosed in the complaint is shocking: In just four years from 2017 to 2021, more than 20 serious water leakage accidents occurred in the building.

Frequent water leaks have caused extensive corrosion of the internal steel structure, and the degree of corrosion of some components has exceeded safety standards by as much as three times.

It is understood that this towering building is 102 stories tall, with an astonishing height-to-width ratio of 15:1.

You know, the height-to-width ratio of ordinary skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building is only 3:1. In contrast, 432 Park Avenue is nicknamed the "Pencil Tower" by industry insiders.

With a height of 425 meters, it has won the title of "the world's tallest single-purpose residential building certified by Guinness World Records".

However, this seemingly majestic building had obvious flaws in its design. Its straight rectangular shape has no streamlined design at all, and it cannot effectively disperse wind force at all.

Even under normal weather conditions, the shaking of the building is so obvious that the owners describe themselves as "living on a boat."

In strong winds, the continuous shaking of the building causes the rigid concrete to bear periodic stress, which eventually leads to cracks in the wall over time.

It is worth mentioning that as early as the early stages of construction, engineers issued warnings about the use of white concrete to create a minimalist appearance, clearly pointing out that this design may have safety hazards.

However, the developer rejected the engineer's reasonable suggestions on the grounds that it "does not affect the aesthetics".
