Recently, many PC players have discovered thatAfter installing the October 2025 update (KB5066835) of Windows 11, the frame rates of many games, including "Assassin's Creed: Shadows", dropped off a cliff, and the game performance was directly "halved".Affected players said that the game, which was originally stable at 120-140 FPS, suddenly dropped to 40-70 FPS after the update, accompanied by severe lagging. If the update is uninstalled, the performance will return to normal.
But until now, Microsoft has not confirmed these problems, nor has it released any patches to fix them.

Fortunately, NVIDIA released the GeForce driver v581.94 hot fix patch on November 19, clearly stating that the patch is designed to solve the problem of "performance degradation that may be observed in some games after updating to Windows 11 October 2025 KB5066835."
Player feedback confirmed that after installing the driver, the game frame rate completely returned to normal, and the performance of some users even improved by 5%.
Performance issues are mainly concentrated on Windows 11 24H2/25H2. Windows 10 does not have the same problem, and there is no problem on Linux or Steam Deck.
And those affected are mainly NVIDIA graphics card users, such as RTX 50 series (5070, 5080, 5090, 5060 Ti) and RTX 4080 and 4090.
As for what caused the game's frame rate to drop, it's still unknown.
