According to the "Folding Screen Smartphone Market Tracking" report released by Counterpoint Research,In Q3 2025, global foldable screen smartphone shipments increased by 14% year-on-year, setting a record high for quarterly shipments in this category.The shipment share of foldable screens in the global smartphone market has increased to 2.5%, and the market is expected to usher in breakthrough expansion in 2026.

Overall, the large foldable form factor is the core driving force for market growth. The launch of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and the continued development of Huawei's Mate series have jointly promoted the share of this category.

Looking at specific brands:

Samsung is the biggest winner this quarter. The Galaxy Z7 series (especially Z Fold7) has broadened its high-end audience with its advantages of thinner and lighter body, stronger hinge durability, and lower crease visibility, driving its folding screen shipments to increase by 32% year-on-year.

At the same time, Samsung also recently launched the Galaxy Z TriFold three-fold model, launching a technology pilot in the form of limited shipments to consolidate its technological leadership.

Huawei's Mate series of foldable screens maintain a solid momentum, with shipments increasing by 10% year-on-year, and continue to occupy a place in the high-end market.

Motorola relied on its advantages such as high cost performance and product experience to achieve a year-on-year growth of 16% in shipments.

Vivo has become a dark horse, with a year-on-year growth of 67%, and its new folding screen product line has contributed significantly to growth.

The shipments of Honor and Xiaomi fell by 31% and 54% year-on-year respectively, and the shipments of the Others camp also dropped sharply by 39% year-on-year.

Counterpoint predicts that folding screens will have an opportunity to explode in 2026. On the one hand, the hardware level will be upgraded, the durability and thinness of the device will be further optimized, and the hinge and screen structure will continue to be improved.

On the other hand, the AI-driven software experience will continue to be enriched, and Apple plans to enter the folding screen market in the second half of 2026. Its huge iPhone user base will drive high-end replacement demand in core areas and push the market into a significant expansion stage.
