Aerospace manufacturer Airbus said it will deliver fewer aircraft this year than originally planned due to problems with fuselage panels on some of its A320 family aircraft. The European company said on Wednesday it was adjusting its 2025 commercial aircraft delivery target to about 790 aircraft "in light of recent quality issues with fuselage panel suppliers that have affected the delivery process of the A320 family aircraft."

Airbus said the previous delivery target had been about 820 aircraft; the downward revision was because the problems occurred at the end of the year - a period traditionally the peak of delivery business.

The company noted that the issue only affects a "limited number" of metal panels on single-aisle A320 family aircraft and that the issue is now under control and new panels produced meet all requirements.

Airbus sources its components from thousands of external suppliers.

It is worth noting that the fuselage panel quality issue came to light earlier this week, just days after Airbus announced that it was urgently fixing another software problem - which affects about 6,000 of this popular model.
