Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that the company will establish a new creative studio, led by Alan Dye, former Apple vice president of human-computer interface design, as Meta's chief design officer. Earlier news showed that Dai would leave Apple, ending his many years of leadership role in the human-computer interface design team, and officially joined Meta on December 31.

Zuckerberg posted in Threads that this creative studio will integrate design, fashion and technology, with the goal of defining the next generation of products and experiences, and treating "intelligence" as a new "design material." He stressed that in an era when new devices such as artificial intelligence glasses are expected to reshape the way humans and computers interact, the key is to make these experiences natural enough and truly human-centered, so that every interaction is more intuitive and closer to user needs.
According to Zuckerberg's vision, the new studio will bring together design talents with craftsmanship, creative vision, systems thinking and experience in integrating hardware and software products, and enhance the voice of design within the company. In addition to Allen Day, Meta will also absorb another human-computer interface designer from Apple, Billy Sorrentino, who has worked at Apple for ten years and also participated in the iOS 26 "Liquid Glass" interface revision.
The newly established creative studio will integrate Meta's existing industrial design team and Metaverse-related design and art teams to form a more unified design strategy and product language. In terms of hardware, Meta has currently launched AI smart glasses and Quest series VR headsets developed in cooperation with Ray-Ban and Oakley, and is accelerating the promotion of an augmented reality glasses product, hoping to further expand in the hardware field.
Allen Day is one of the few designers at Apple who has worked with former chief design officer Jony Ive for many years. He joined Apple in 2006 and moved to the Ive team in 2012 to participate in the design of iOS 7. He has been leading Apple's user interface design team since 2015. Now he chooses to switch to Meta at a critical point in his career. It is also regarded by the outside world as an important bet for the social giant on the integration of design and artificial intelligence.
