Built by China Railway Fourth Engineering BureauThe Ji-Xin Expressway Yellow River Three Gorges Bridge has successfully completed a load test recently, marking that this world's first single-tower ground-anchored slewing cable suspension bridge is ready for traffic. As a key control project on the Jiyuan-Xin'an Expressway, the Three Gorges Bridge of the Yellow River is located in the Wangwushan-Dameishan Global Geopark. It has a main span of 555 meters and one span spans the Xiaolangdi Reservoir area of the Yellow River. After the bridge is opened to traffic, cross-strait travel time will be shortened from the original two hours to about 20 minutes.

The load test is the most direct test of the safety and reliability of the bridge structure. This test is divided into two parts: static load test and dynamic load test: A total of 56 fully loaded heavy trucks were put into the static load test, with a total weight of 1,792 tons, to simulate the stress state of the bridge under static load.

The dynamic load test uses two heavy trucks to simulate dynamic scenarios such as high-speed driving and braking at specified speeds to test the performance of the bridge under complex operating conditions.

During the test, technicians used sensors pre-disposed at key locations to collect real-time data on stress, strain and displacement of the bridge under different working conditions.Preliminary analysis results show that all indicators of the bridge meet the design requirements and the load test was a complete success.
