The latest version of Tesla FSD, V14.2.1, has been pushed to North American car owners in early December. Compared with previous versions, the biggest upgrade of V14.2.1 is that in automatic driving mode,"Support drivers to send text messages in specific situations", in other words, allow drivers to use their mobile phones while driving.A car owner conducted an actual test on his Tesla FSD after upgrading it to the latest V14.2.1 version.

In the video, after the car owner sets the destination, he turns on FSD to allow the vehicle to drive automatically on urban roads. During this period, he was sitting in the driver's seat and playing with his mobile phone.

While the owner was using the FSD, he did not have his hands on the steering wheel. Moreover, the car did not prompt him to pay attention to the road conditions, and it was already infinitely close to autonomous driving.

It is understood that Tesla FSD V14.2.1, in addition to supporting text messaging during autonomous driving, has also made a number of targeted optimizations.

The FSD system allows the driver to choose an efficiency mode that changes lanes more actively; intersection handling is smoother, and it will stop and wait in advance when encountering pedestrians; it has the ability to independently plan U-turns on extremely narrow road sections, and the overall performance is closer to a full version of autonomous driving.

However, Tesla FSD V14.2.1 is currently only available for Tesla models equipped with HW4.0 and above hardware. A large number of old car owners who use HW3.0 hardware cannot use it yet.
