On December 8, a starlight gold Model Y L rolled off the production line, marking the 4 millionth vehicle officially rolling off the production line at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory. The factory currently accounts for nearly half of Tesla's global deliveries. The factory's production rhythm is maintained at one car rolling off the assembly line every 30 seconds.

According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association on December 2, the factory delivered a total of 86,700 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in November, a year-on-year increase of 10% and a month-on-month increase of 40%. In addition to supplying the Chinese market, the factory also exports to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. In October 2025, its monthly export volume exceeded 35,000 vehicles.

Recently, the Model Y model received five-star ratings in both Euro NCAP and ANCAP safety evaluations. Tesla said that the localization rate of the Shanghai factory’s industrial chain has reached 95%. From the first batch of deliveries in 2019 to the rollout of the 4 millionth vehicle this time, the prices of Model 3 and Model Y have been reduced in the Chinese market. Both models have completed product refreshes and continued to add features through OTA.

In addition, the Tesla Energy Storage Gigafactory in Shanghai was put into operation in February 2025. It mainly produces Megapack commercial energy storage systems, and the first batch of products were exported in March of the same year.
