AMD has released FSR SDK 2.1.0, which includes the FSR major update Redstone. It is currently available on GPUOpen and GitHub.For developers targeting Windows 10 and 11 DirectX 12. FSR SDK 2.1.0 integrates all four machine learning-based FSR functions, including FSR Upscaling 4.0.3, FSR Frame Generation 4.0, FSR Ray Regeneration 1.0, and FSR Radiance Caching.

SDK 2.1.0 also formalizes the FSR API, using a loader and independent DLL file structure to manage each function.
This new structure allows future AMD Adrenalin Edition drivers to directly update ML components,Even existing FSR 3.1 game integrations can be automatically upgraded to FSR Upscaling 4.0.3 and Frame Generation 4.0 without the need for game patches.Greatly simplifies the post-maintenance of the game.
AMD has also updated the FSR plug-in for Unreal Engine 5.2 to 5.7, adding support for new machine learning-based FSR frame generation on top of the existing one.
But hardware support is still a limiting factor for Redstone, and these ML-based features are currently limited to the RX 9000 series RDNA 4 architecture GPUs.On older Radeon GPUs or graphics cards from other manufacturers, FSR will still select FSR 3.1.
