Sigourney Weaver has joined Phoebe Waller-Bridge's live-action Tomb Raider series for Amazon. Sigourney Weaver confirmed to star in Tomb Raider live-action series

"I'm going to be in Tomb Raider," the actress revealed at a red carpet event for her new film, "Avatar: Fire and Ashes." "I'm so excited. The script is brilliant, funny, charming, and witty — exactly what we've come to expect from Ms. Waller-Bridge."

Weaver added that she's been following Waller-Bridge for a long time and has been a fan of her, so she's "thrilled" to be working on the Tomb Raider series.

She also revealed that the character she will play is named Wallace: "A famous English name," she added with a smile, "but it's not always so popular, what do you think?"

It's an exciting week for Tomb Raider fans. In addition to the recently announced cast - Sophie Turner plays Lara Croft, and British actor Martin Bob-Semple plays an undisclosed "important" role - at this morning's TGA, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon also revealed for the first time a new orthodox sequel to the series.

This new game called "Tomb Raider: Catalyst" will take Lara Croft to India and is expected to be launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam platforms in 2027.

Additionally, a remastered version of the original Tomb Raider will be released next year.
