The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently reported an in-flight fire incident. An FAA spokesman said that due to an engine failure, a United Airlines passenger plane was forced to return and land at Washington Dulles International Airport just after takeoff. No one was injured.

Reports show,United Airlines Flight 803 was originally scheduled to fly to Tokyo, but an engine failure occurred during takeoff that afternoon. The engine lost power shortly after takeoff. The pilot immediately turned back and diverted to Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia.

Fortunately, none of the 275 passengers and 15 crew members on the flight were injured.

Videos shot by netizens showed thick smoke rising near the runway at Dulles Airport, and firefighters quickly put out the fire after they intervened.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy posted on social media,The malfunction occurred on a Boeing 777-200ER passenger plane. Part of the engine hood fell off and caught fire, triggering a bush fire on the airport ground.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the incident, and United Flight 803 was delayed due to a malfunction and was flown by another aircraft later that day.
