According to CCTV News, today the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially announced my country’s first batch of L3 conditional self-driving car access licenses. Two models suitable for urban congestion and highway sections will be piloted on the road in designated areas in Beijing and Chongqing. This move marks a key step for my country's L3 autonomous driving to move from the testing stage to commercial application.
The two models announced this time come from two automobile manufacturers, one in the south and one in the north:
The pure electric sedan produced by this automobile company in Chongqing can realize the automatic driving function at a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour in a single lane of highways and urban expressways in traffic jam environments. Currently, this function is only enabled on relevant road sections in Chongqing.
This pure electric car produced by this Beijing-based automobile company can achieve autonomous driving functions at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour in single lanes of highways and urban expressways. Currently, this function is only enabled on relevant road sections in Beijing.
According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in the next step, the two models will be piloted on the road by two users in Chongqing and Beijing in the above-mentioned areas.
Relevant departments will strengthen vehicle operation monitoring and safety guarantees, continuously improve the access management and standard regulations system for intelligent connected vehicles, and promote the high-quality development of my country's intelligent connected new energy vehicle industry.

The official did not directly announce the names of these two car companies, but based on the previously announced approval information,It may correspond to Changan Automobile and Jihu Automobile, a subsidiary of BAIC Blue Valley.
It is reported that the definition of L3 level automatic driving is: conditional automatic driving. Under certain conditions, the driver can completely take off his hands and the system independently controls the vehicle, but the driver still needs to take over in time when requested by the system.
In other words, true autonomous driving, rather than the previous assisted driving.
