A supply chain report confirms that OLED will appear on iPads in 2024, but Apple's foldable display plans are still undecided and there is no known release window. OLED is a superior display technology that is used in the iPhone series. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro and MacBook Pro use MiniLED, but will soon be replaced by OLED.

According to a report by Nikkei Asia, Apple will release an OLED iPad in 2024 and an OLED MacBook in 2025, and is still working on foldable devices. Two people familiar with the matter said that Apple has "no specific timetable" for releasing a foldable device similar to the iPhone Fold.

"We see that LCD manufacturers are being severely squeezed due to the increasing use of OLED in small and medium-sized products. Huawei, Lenovo... they are all very active in using OLED in tablets," said an executive at an OLED and LCD screen supplier. "With Apple's iPad plans coming to fruition starting next year, we can imagine that LCD manufacturers will have a tougher time ahead."

It is also reported that the OLED MacBook will be available between 2024 and 2027. Most reports agree that an OLED iPad will arrive first, but the timeline for potential foldables is constantly changing.

Supply chain reports tend to be accurate, although the further the forecast date is from the current date, the more likely it is to change. The launch of the OLED iPad in 2024 is basically a certainty, but the launch of the OLED MacBook in 2025 is not so certain.
