According to the New York Post, American actor James Ransone committed suicide at home. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Department confirmed that his body was found on Friday, December 19, and he was 46 years old.

In 2021, Ranthorne disclosed his experience of childhood sexual abuse. He said the trauma led to his long-term addiction to alcohol and drugs as an adult. The actor successfully kicked drug addiction in 2006 and officially reported the crime to Baltimore County police in March 2020, demanding that the perpetrator be held legally accountable. However, according to his email records, prosecutors ultimately decided not to open an investigation and the criminal case failed to start.

Ranthorne rose to prominence in the second season of HBO's popular TV series "The Wire" as longshoreman Chigurh Soboka. He has since played Eddie Kaspbrak in the well-known horror film "Joker 2", and has appeared in "Sinister", "Sinister 2", etc.
