Interface news reports,The "Kairuiou" ton-class unmanned eVTOL aircraft independently developed by Fengfei Aviation took off from Haikou Pearl Island, successfully flew across the 23-kilometer-wide Qiongzhou Strait in just 9 minutes, and landed smoothly at Xuwen Port in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. This flight completed the country's first ton-level eVTOL cross-strait transportation scenario verification, laying a key foundation for the future normalization of low-altitude logistics in the Qiongzhou Strait.

This cross-strait flight was jointly initiated by Hainan Holdings, Hainan Airport Group, Hainan Yihang General Aviation, Pengcheng Low Altitude and Fengfei Airlines. It is the first iconic low-altitude industry event held after the Hainan Free Trade Port closed the customs. It fully demonstrates the free trade port's pioneering advantages in low-altitude airspace reform and industrial integration development.
During the flight, the "Kerry Owl" faced the complex marine meteorological environment. Relying on the precise navigation system and redundant flight control technology, it maintained a stable attitude throughout the entire flight and successfully completed the set mission, verifying the reliability and environmental adaptability of ton-level eVTOLs in cross-sea transportation scenarios.
As the world's first tonnage-plus eVTOL model with "three complete certificates", "Kairuiou" has obtained the type certificate, production license and single-machine airworthiness certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
This model adopts a composite wing configuration design, which combines the advantages of vertical take-off and landing of helicopters and efficient cruising of fixed-wing aircraft. It has a maximum take-off weight of 2 tons, an effective commercial load of 400 kilograms, and an applicable range of 200 kilometers. It can flexibly meet the transportation needs of a variety of scenarios.
