While Wi-Fi 7 has not yet been fully popularized, ASUS is ready to step into the next generation. Recently, ASUS released a notice that it will display a Wi-Fi 8 router during CES 2026.According to the official warm-up image, this router adopts a gray and white color scheme and a polygonal body design. The most eye-catching thing is the eye-catching "Wi-Fi 8" logo on the body.
Wi-Fi 8 corresponds to the IEEE 802.11bn standard. The formal approval of this standard is not expected until September 2028, but ASUS can’t wait to launch related products.
At present, Broadcom has released the Wi-Fi 8 chip platform, TP-Link has completed its first connection demonstration, and Zhonglei Sercomm has also launched related platforms.
It should be noted that there are certain risks for consumers to purchase such "advanced" hardware when the standard has not yet been finalized.
Since the standard has not yet been determined, early products may not support all features of future official versions, and there are currently almost no mobile phones or notebooks on the market that support Wi-Fi 8.
Wi-Fi 7 is a typical example. The standard supports the 320MHz channel in the 6GHz band, but many early hardware only supports 160MHz, and actual use does not match the promotion.
