In a live broadcast, former Rockstar animator Mike York shared the technical details of one of the most hotly discussed clips in the second trailer of "GTA 6" - how the scene where the heroine Lucia's butt movements are extremely realistic was produced.

Previously, Internet users and gaming media had enthusiastically discussed a scene in which Lucia, wearing a yellow dress, walks on the deck of a speedboat. The character's movements appear extremely natural due to the highly realistic physical effects. In response to the audience's question about how the "swing physics" is implemented in this scene, York, who has participated in the production of "GTA5" and "Red Dead Redemption 2", gave a speculative explanation based on experience.
He said the animators likely embedded an extremely dense mesh of virtual "skeletons" - control nodes in the skeletal animation system - in that part of the character. These "bones" connected to the character's main skeleton are programmed to react to inertia, weight and movement speed, resulting in realistic secondary dynamics.

York emphasized that this technology is not new to Rockstar. In "Red Dead Redemption 2", a similar method was used to animate the capes and costumes, but at that time it was more of a controlled animation rather than a complete physical simulation. In "GTA6", the development team is likely to combine two methods: on the one hand, using a high-density bone system to depict the character's body structure, and on the other hand, adding separate cloth physics calculations to the skirt. It is this "hybrid solution" that creates a high degree of realism that can be felt even in just a few seconds.
Of course, York also added that he cannot be 100% sure of this implementation method because he left Rockstar a few years ago, but the above judgment is based on his in-depth understanding of the studio's internal technical system.
This hotly discussed detail once again reflects Rockstar’s pursuit of ultimate realism in its new work. "GTA6" is expected to be officially released in the fall of 2026.
According to a survey, 80% of fans do not believe that "GTA6" can be released as scheduled
According to a recent survey, up to 80% of "GTA6" fans firmly believe that the game will suffer a third delay. After all, Rockstar has released very few games on time over the years.

Players clearly remember the release cycles of "Give Him Love 5" and "Red Dead Redemption 2": the initial release dates announced for both games were vague speculations that were repeatedly postponed on the grounds of "polishing projects." Therefore, the current release window scheduled for the end of 2026 is only a tentative goal rather than a formal commitment to most fans.
However, this skepticism from fans is actually an appeal that the game will not become the next "Cyberpunk 2077". 80% of the respondents in the survey would rather wait until 2027 to get a masterpiece than get a semi-finished product full of bugs and lacking game content on time.

The trend on social media confirms this mentality. There is no longer a countdown clock on the forum homepage, but instead it is flooded with memes saying "Only future generations can play GTA6". The brand logic established by Rockstar is: as long as the final product is stunning, everything can be forgiven. But the price of this trust is that no one will believe their so-called announcement date anymore.
