As the power consumption of top-end graphics cards continues to soar, "burn door" incidents of the 12V-2x6 interface are becoming more and more frequent. Not only the RTX 5090 is frequently affected, but also mid-range graphics cards such as the RX 9070 XT are also unavoidable. Faced with this industry problem, MSI decided to start from the power supply side, trying to add an "insurance" to expensive hardware.
MSI official trailer,The latest developed power supplies with active protection functions will be launched soon: MPG Ai1300TS and Ai1600TS, 1300W and 1600W respectively.

MSI didn’t disclose specific details, but it’s reasonable to speculate that the “active and instant protection” feature refers to real-time monitoring of each wire/pin in the 12V-2x6 interface to ensure that they share the load evenly.
If there is a problem or poor contact with any of these pins, power will be cut off immediately, shutting down the system and thus protecting expensive hardware from damage.

Judging from the preview images, these two flagship power supplies are equipped with a USB-C interface on the back, which means that users can connect it to the motherboard and control it through software. However, even without software, it can still prevent the graphics card from burning out, but the software may bring more expanded functions.
