Recently, EVA Air reported a flight safety incident. According to the report,On January 1, a captain surnamed Wen was performing the pre-takeoff taxiing process at Los Angeles Airport in the United States because his speed was suspected to exceed the legal limit of 30 knots.The accompanying Malaysian co-pilot issued "Speed" warnings several times to no avail. To ensure the safety of the aircraft, he stepped on the brakes in accordance with the SOP procedure. Unexpectedly, this action aroused the strong dissatisfaction of the captain surnamed Wen. He lost control of his emotions in the cockpit and directly beat the co-pilot at least four times, causing obvious redness, swelling and scars on the back of the co-pilot's hands.

What made the whistleblower dissatisfied was that after the incident, EVA Air did not immediately ground the violent captain Wen, but instead allowed the captain with unstable emotional management to continue flying.

After the matter aroused heated discussion, EVA Air issued a statement on January 2 saying:

Regarding the recent media reports and the controversial incident involving EVA Air’s pilots and co-pilots circulating on the Internet, because some of the contents are inconsistent with the facts, in order to avoid misunderstandings by the outside world, EVA Air hereby explains as follows:

1. According to the quick access recorder (QAR) data on the flight, the taxiing speed of the aircraft met the requirements and there was no overspeeding transmitted through the network.The company has also reported the relevant facts to the competent authority and called on the outside world not to spread rumors and confuse the public.

2. In response to external concerns about the captain’s on-duty behavior in this incident, EVA Air took the initiative to launch an internal investigation mechanism after the incident and notified relevant authorities to fully clarify the actual situation and relevant facts. In addition, the company also takes the initiative to understand and provide employees with psychological counseling and other assistance programs in accordance with the law.

3. Based on the needs of the investigation, the pilot flight mission has been temporarily suspended. The relevant investigation is already in progress. Once the investigation is completed, a disciplinary committee will be convened as soon as possible for review.
