Social media platform X will open source a new version of its algorithm to the public within seven days, founder Elon Musk said on Saturday. "This initiative will be implemented every four weeks and will be accompanied by detailed developer documentation to help everyone understand the specific updates to the algorithm." Musk, the owner of the X platform, said in a post on the platform.

The billionaire did not specify the reasons for open-sourcing Platform X’s algorithms. Previously, he and his company have had many conflicts with regulatory agencies over the display of user content.

Among them, European regulatory agencies have intensified their scrutiny of the company, focusing on the spread of false information, ineffective content review, and deficiencies in information transparency.

In July this year, French authorities asked the company to share content related to its algorithm during an investigation into bias and manipulation of the X Platform algorithm. Platform X responded at the time that it would not comply with the request and accused the investigation of being politically motivated.
