Hyundai Motor officially released the mass-produced version of its Staria Electric pure electric multi-purpose van (MPV). This model has been warmed up since 2021 and has finally made its debut in Brussels, Belgium. It is expected to land in the Korean and European markets before mid-2026.

Staria Electric is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform, equipped with an 84-kilowatt-hour battery pack and a front-mounted motor with a maximum power of 160 kilowatts (approximately 214.5 horsepower), and adopts a front-wheel drive layout. With the support of high-voltage architecture and fast charging system, the vehicle can achieve energy replenishment performance from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes at a DC fast charging station, and can maintain fast charging capabilities even when fully loaded or towed. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with an 11-kilowatt AC on-board charger and provides a charging interface with heating function to improve charging efficiency and reliability in cold environments.

Xavier Martinet, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, said that Staria Electric is a product launched based on the space and practicality of the existing Staria series and the company's experience in the electrification field. It aims to provide European users with an electric MPV solution that combines efficient travel with daily practicality. In his view, through high-voltage fast charging systems and interior upgrades, new cars can bring an electric travel experience oriented to real road conditions for home and commercial scenarios.

In terms of performance and practical attributes, Staria Electric has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kilograms and supports vehicle-to-external discharge (V2L) function, which can provide power for external electrical equipment to meet the power needs of multiple scenarios such as camping and outdoor work. According to the estimated data based on WLTP working conditions, the cruising range of the new car is about 400 kilometers, which is mainly targeted at composite usage scenarios such as urban commuting, suburban travel, and short- and medium-distance long-distance transportation.

In terms of in-car digital experience, Staria Electric is equipped with Hyundai's latest generation ccNC infotainment system, which supports OTA online upgrades. Two 12.3-inch displays are arranged in the central control area to form an integrated digital cockpit. At the same time, the new car will be equipped with Hyundai's latest active safety and driving assistance systems as standard, including a number of intelligent driving assistance and protection functions to improve safety and driving burden management during long-distance and multi-person travel.

In terms of body layout, Staria Electric will be put into production at the Ulsan plant in South Korea and will provide two seat versions: one is a 7-seat Luxury model with a more high-end positioning, and the other is a 9-seat Wagon model with an extended wheelbase to cover different application needs such as family travel, administrative reception and multi-passenger operations. In terms of luggage compartment volume, the trunk volume of the 7-seat model is 435 liters, while the 9-seat Wagon model can provide up to 1,303 liters of loading space with the seats folded down in different ways, further highlighting the advantages of MPVs in space utilization.

As for the market price, Hyundai stated that it will gradually announce the price and configuration strategies in different regions before Staria Electric officially enters sales in each target market. With the addition of this car to the lineup, the Staria family has a pure electric version for the first time, which also marks the further improvement of Hyundai's electrification layout in the fields of medium and large vans and multi-functional MPVs.
