Recently, Ubisoft officially announced a large-scale company restructuring plan, which resulted in the cancellation of six subsequent games, including the remake of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time", and the postponement of seven games. Two of Ubisoft's studios have been closed, and the remaining studios will announce further layoffs on February 12.

Among the six canceled games, Ubisoft only mentioned the remake of "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time". Three of the remaining games are new IPs and the other is a mobile game. Ubisoft said that the company's future focus will be on open world games and online service-based games. The seven postponed games have not been announced, but one of the games originally planned to be released before April 2026 has been postponed to April 2027.

Ubisoft cancels the development of six works:

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot Guillemot said: "At the heart of this transformation are our creative studios, integrated business units that now combine R&D and publishing to unify the relationship with players. Each creative studio is built around a clear game type and brand positioning, with full responsibility and financial autonomy, and is led by a dedicated leadership team. This is a radical change, relying on a more decentralized creative organization to achieve faster decision-making speed, and have a best-in-class cross-functional core services team to support and service each creative studio."

Ubisoft cancels the development of six works:

As a result of these changes, Ubisoft Halifax and Stockholm Studios will be closed. Ubisoft Abu Dhabi Studio, RedLynx, the developer of the Trials series, and Massive Studio, the developer of The Division, will also be reorganized.

Ubisoft explained its decision on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remastered: "We have made the difficult decision to cease development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remastered. We know this will be deeply disappointing for everyone. This game has profound meaning for the players and the teams involved in the development. Despite the potential of the project, we failed to meet the players. The level of quality expected. Continuing with the project will require more time and investment than we can responsibly undertake. Furthermore, we do not want to release a title that does not fully capture the essence of The Sands of Persia as a universe and legacy. This decision does not mean that we are withdrawing from the series."
