Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, a well-known American AI start-up, once again warned that artificial intelligence (AI) will subvert the job market, saying that this will cause an "extraordinarily painful" impact. In his latest 20,000-word article, Amodei states,The risks posed by artificial intelligence are not being taken seriously, with warnings that the technology will "shock" the job market more than ever before.

According to him, possible harms caused by AI include the technology becoming autonomous and unpredictable, bad actors or terrorist groups using it to create biological weapons, and some countries using AI to gain greater power, thereby establishing a "global totalitarian dictatorship."
"Humanity is about to be endowed with almost unimaginable power, but it is far from clear that our social, political and technological systems have the maturity to harness this power," he added.
In the article, Amodei elaborated on his views,That is, it will be difficult for humans to recover from the impact of artificial intelligence on the labor market in the short term.
"New technologies tend to bring shocks to the labor market, and humans have always been able to recover from them in the past, but that's because these previous shocks only affected a small fraction of all possible human capabilities, leaving room for humans to expand into new tasks. The impact of AI is wider and happens faster, so I worry that it will be more challenging to make everything work smoothly," he wrote.
This is not the first time Amodei has warned that artificial intelligence may eliminate jobs. Last May, he warned that artificial intelligence tools Anthropic and other companies were racing to develop could eliminate half of all entry-level white-collar jobs in the next one to five years and push unemployment to 20%.
Last September, he warned that artificial intelligence could soon lead to mass unemployment, although the technology's current capabilities lagged many forecasts.
Meanwhile, the topic of job losses caused by artificial intelligence has dominated headlines in the past year. Data released in December by consulting firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas showed that the technology is believed to be one of the reasons for a net loss of nearly 55,000 jobs in the United States by 2025.
An MIT study in November found that artificial intelligence could already replace 11.7% of the jobs in the U.S. labor market, saving up to $1.2 trillion in wages in finance, health care and other professional services.
short term shock
In a newly published article, Amodei predicts,Humans will not be able to adapt to the rapid development of artificial intelligence, which will cause an "extremely painful" short-term impact on the labor market.
He wrote: "The development speed of artificial intelligence is far faster than any previous technological revolution. It is difficult for people to adapt to this speed of change, whether it is changes in existing work methods or the need to change jobs."
Amodei added that this is mainly because the "cognitive breadth" of artificial intelligence means that it will not only affect one industry, but may simultaneously destroy jobs in industries such as finance, consulting, law and technology, leaving workers unable to "switch direction" and switch to other industries with matching skills.
"This technology does not replace a specific job, but serves as a 'universal labor replacement for humans.'"he said.
Amodei reiterated his call that solving the problem “requires government intervention” such as a “progressive tax system” that targets AI companies in particular.
