Informa Tech, the organizer of the Game Developers Conference (GDC), the world's professional developer forum for the game industry, released a latest survey report "2026 STATE OF THE GAME INDUSTRY" on January 29, inviting 2,300 game industry professionals to investigate the impact of the hottest AI technology on the game industry. Already 52% of game industry professionals believe that AI will have a negative impact.
·"2026 STATE OF THE GAME INDUSTRY" received a total of valid questionnaires from more than 2,300 people in the game industry, including front-line game developers, marketing, marketing, investors and other game industry related people.
·It sounds like only half of the people in the game industry have a pessimistic attitude towards AI. However, comparing surveys in previous years, you will find that the number of people in the industry who have a pessimistic attitude towards AI has increased sharply in the past three years. In comparison, the number of people who still have confidence that AI can help the healthy development of the game industry is decreasing rapidly.

·In terms of specific negative impact details, the largest proportions are art design at 64%, game design and script creation at 63%, and programming at 59%. In fact, these are also the main reasons for the strong support of developers who agree with the participation of AI in game creation.
·The most used AI model tool is still the old tool ChatGPT, accounting for 74%, occupying an absolute advantage. The main tools of other major giants have their own rankings.
