According to Bloomberg, Nvidia will invest $20 billion in OpenAI as part of its latest round of financing, which will be the chipmaker’s largest single investment in the developer of ChatGPT. The deal has not yet been finalized and terms could still change, the report said. OpenAI and Nvidia declined to comment.

OpenAI plans to raise up to $100 billion in a new round of funding, with most of the money coming from big tech companies, according to Bloomberg.

Amazon.com Inc. has negotiated investments of up to $50 billion, and SoftBank Group Corp. has negotiated investments of up to $30 billion. The Financial Times previously reported that Nvidia could invest up to $20 billion.

Nvidia and OpenAI have been two pillars of the boom in artificial intelligence, but their relationship has come under new scrutiny recently amid reports of tensions between the companies.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Nvidia's plan to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI, announced in September, has stalled after some within the chip giant expressed doubts about the deal.

The CEOs of both companies have since publicly stated that they remain committed to continuing to work together.

"We will definitely participate in the next round because it's a very good investment," Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang told reporters during a visit to Taipei on Saturday, adding that it has the potential to be "our largest investment to date."
