"I've been contacted by both sides. There were bids from both sides, but I decided I shouldn't get involved. The Department of Justice will handle it," Trump said.

Netflix has offered to acquire WBD for $72 billion, a deal that would not include the latter's cable network business. Paramount launched a hostile takeover and proposed a comprehensive acquisition of WBD for more than $108 billion.

Compared with early December last year, Trump's attitude has changed. When Netflix initially proposed acquiring WBD, Trump said the size of the market share Netflix could gain if federal regulators approved the deal "could cause problems" and that he would be involved in the process of reviewing and potentially approving the deal.
