Recently, Ferrari released its first pure electric sports car, Luce. The car's interior design was handled by LoveFrom Creative Studio, and the founder of the studio is Apple's former chief design officer Jonathan Ive. At the press conference, Jonathan Ive made it clear:The touch screen is not suitable as the main interaction method of the car, and criticized the Tesla-style full touch design as a "simple and lazy" choice.
He bluntly said: "I would never consider touch as the main control method of the car. This method of control requires you to take your eyes away from the road, which I have never thought of doing, and it also proves that the touch screen is not suitable as the main interaction method of the car."
At the same time, he also sharply criticized Tesla, sayingLarge touch screens are an “easy and lazy” design choice that is treated as a fashion rather than a solution to a real problem. This can lead to "operational delays" and the inability to quickly find and control the required functions in an emergency.
He also said the design makes the car "soul-dead a little bit" because it destroys the focused experience of driving.
Based on this concept, Luce, the Ferrari pure electric sports car in charge of Jonathan Ive, refuses to be stacked with large screens.Only one central control screen is provided, while a large number of physical switches and knobs are retained, and all physical buttons are designed with differentiated touches to facilitate precise and fast blind operation.
