According to reports, the U.S. Department of War (Defense Department) will work with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into the agency’s general artificial intelligence platform GenAI.mil. The U.S. Department of War wrote in its latest statement: "This collaboration will make OpenAI's advanced large-scale language models easily available to all 3 million Department of War personnel. The use of ChatGPT will help improve mission execution capabilities and combat readiness, and provide reliable artificial intelligence capabilities for joint forces."

GenAI.mil, the U.S. Department of War’s enterprise-grade artificial intelligence platform, has surpassed one million unique users in just two months since its deployment, according to a statement. The application scope of GenAI covers all military services, and it has become a safe, reliable and mission-ready universal artificial intelligence platform for the Department of War.

“The platform’s proven reliability, consistent 100% uptime since launch, and robust infrastructure make it a trusted AI platform across the sector,” the statement added.

The U.S. Department of War emphasized thatThe application of this technology has "accelerated the pace of operations and improved users' decision-making advantages."War Department personnel are being trained to integrate artificial intelligence capabilities into daily workflows, officials said.

In December, the Pentagon announced the launch of GenAI.mil, a platform powered by Google Gemini.

“The future of American warfare is already here, and its name is artificial intelligence,” U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in an interview.

He added that the platform will put "the world's most powerful cutting-edge artificial intelligence models, starting with Google Gemini, directly into the hands of every American warfighter."

In January this year, the U.S. Department of War announced the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Acceleration Strategy, which aims to remove legacy bureaucratic obstacles and integrate cutting-edge artificial intelligence capabilities into every mission area.

“In the age of artificial intelligence, speed determines victory, and the Department of War will keep pace with the development speed of the U.S. artificial intelligence industry,” Emil Michael, undersecretary of war for research and engineering, previously said. “We are bringing in the best talent, the most cutting-edge technology, and integrating the most cutting-edge artificial intelligence models into the workforce—all at wartime speed.”

The above statement once again emphasized that “the Department of War is building an artificial intelligence ecosystem designed to improve speed, safety and lasting mission impact. The integration of ChatGPT into GenAI.mil marks another critical step in making cutting-edge artificial intelligence capabilities the standard for everyday operations."
