Susan Zhuang, a Democratic member who will represent the 43rd Assembly District in Brooklyn, New York, and was elected to the New York City Council as a Chinese member of the New York City Council, was recently reported by the New York Post that she "admitted" to using AI to respond to media interviews. The New York Post reported that she submitted AI-generated answers during a recent interview. She was asked the question, "What makes a person a New Yorker?" and her overly written response prompted a senior Democratic official to question her, saying it was completely different from her usual tone.

After the New York Post tested it through the AI detection tool Copyleaks.com, the newspaper said it found that her answers were most likely written by AI. In addition, the newspaper also reported that she "blamed her staff for sending the AI-generated answers to the media" and later admitted that "because English is not her native language, AI was used to help her deepen her understanding."

At present, most English websites repeat the same report, claiming that she "admitted" the fact that she uses AI. But according to Chinese media reports, Zhuang Wenyi said that not only did she not say what the Post reported, but her official response was not adopted. She accused the media of "smearing" her in many Chinese-language media headlines.

When asked by Chinese media, she said: "Although the campaign has passed, this blackening of my reporting will not. Because the success of my campaign is the success of the community, and the success of the community will inevitably cause certain large financial groups to lose profits."

She further said that some of her opinions have led to her receiving a lot of threats and intimidation, such as opposing the establishment of homeless shelters near schools and senior centers in the community. She said the intimidation, smear campaign and threats came from "certain large conglomerates and their agents". She said she would "fear no danger" and continue to "bravely speak out" for the interests of the community and people.
