On February 12, according to Bloomberg, Elon Musk said that he had restructured his AI startup xAI. Earlier this week, two co-founders of xAI announced their departure. Musk said at a staff meeting on Wednesday,xAI will be reorganized into four core areas: Grok chatbot and voice products, programming, Imagine video products, and Macrohard, an AI software company run by digital agents.Musk unveiled the plan during an all-hands meeting with xAI employees and posted the meeting content on the social network X.

"The key is development speed and acceleration," he told employees. "The one who runs faster will become the leader." He also expressed his gratitude to those who have left.
Musk said that the company will launch a new X Chat application exclusively for users who only need communication functions.He reiterated that he would not run ads in Grok. He revealed that the X Money function, which has been brewing for many years, will be open to a small number of external test users in the next few months, which supports transfers within the application.
"This will bring together all financial flows and completely change the rules of the game." Musk said.
Before this meeting, xAI co-founders Wu Yuhuai and Jimmy Ba had announced their resignations. Additionally, several other employees have left over the past few days.
Aman Madaan joined xAI in 2024 and currently leads the main chatbot and voice business units. He noted at the conference that xAI is rapidly developing its own model, driven by the success of the OpenAI speech model. “We started from scratch and developed this system in just six months,” he said.
Manuel Kroiss, co-founder of xAI, will lead the programming team, while Zhang Guodong, the other co-founder, will be responsible for video generation and assist with programming. Toby Pohlen, also a member of the founding team, will run the Macrohard division, which is named in a parody of Microsoft.
"Most of the AI computing power will be used to understand real-time video generation," Musk said. "We expect to be the leader in this field."
Nikita Bier, who oversees platform X products, said the social network and its associated apps, including Grok, already have about 1 billion users. He pointed out that January this year was the most active month for X interaction, and the average daily usage time of new users increased by 55% compared with half a year ago. He mentioned,The app has been "reconstructed to make the experience better than ever before," and its subscription business now has annual recurring revenue of $1 billion.
