MGM+ and Prime Video jointly released the first trailer and the first batch of stills of "Shadow Spider-Man" today, and officially announced that this comic-based live-action series starring Nicolas Cage will be launched on the MGM+ TV channel on May 25, 2026, and will be launched on Prime Video globally in its entirety on May 27.

Trailer:

Ben Reilly, played by Cage, was once the only superhero "Spider-Man" in New York. After a profound personal tragedy, he takes off his suit and becomes a down-and-out private detective on the streets of 1930s New York.

In the trailer, this former hero, whose edges have been sharpened by life, is experiencing an "existential crisis" - until an extraordinary case forces him to put on that long-lasting mask again.

The series is adapted from the Marvel comic "Shadow Spider-Man", which deeply integrates superhero narrative and film noir aesthetics. This is Cage's second voice/appearance in the role of Spider-Man after the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", and it is also the first time that he has played this classic variant of the character in live-action form.

This drama makes a bold attempt in form: each episode will be released simultaneously with two independent versions - one is a "real full color" version and the other is a "pure black and white" version. The two versions will be launched simultaneously with the series, and viewers can freely choose their viewing style.

The official released two trailers, a full-color version and a black-and-white version simultaneously today, visually showing the completely different atmospheres in the two tones. In addition to Cage, the first batch of regular cast members announced include:

· Ramone Morris as Robbie Robertson

· Li Lijun plays Cat Hardy

· Karen Rodriguez as Janet

The guest cast is equally impressive:

Abraham Porpola ("Alien", "The Exile"), Jack Huston ("Boardwalk"), Brendan Gleeson ("The Banshee of Inisherin", "Harry Potter") and others are confirmed to star.

The series is produced exclusively by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video.
