Microsoft is further rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot to macOS users, primarily targeting enterprise customers. According to the newly disclosed product roadmap, starting in mid-February 2026, the installer of the Microsoft 365 Mac version suite will change and add a new app icon called "Microsoft 365 Copilot".

It should be noted that this icon is only a "bootstrap" (shim) or shortcut and will not automatically install the complete Copilot application on the user's Mac. Only when the user actively clicks on the icon will the system begin to download and install the complete application.

This adjustment is mainly targeted at enterprise environments that use full suite installation packages for new deployments. Microsoft said the move is designed to help organizations deploy Copilot services more easily while preserving choice. For businesses that don't require this feature, IT administrators can choose to exclude this bootstrap during deployment. More importantly, existing Microsoft 365 installation users will not be affected, this change only applies to new installation scenarios. Compared to the aggressive strategy of Copilot being automatically installed and integrated into the File Explorer on Windows 11, macOS users have more initiative in whether to install this feature.

Additionally, reports mention an update for iOS users. Starting from the third week of February, Outlook for iOS will adjust the way attachments are opened and will jump to the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint application to open the file by default, replacing the original built-in preview function, unless the user manually blocks the jump request. This change will be rolled out first on iPad devices.
