In a major breakthrough in the field of game simulation and overall game retention, almost all PlayStation 3 (PS3) platform game libraries can now be run through the RPCS3 emulator. According to the latest update released by the developers of the project, only 62 games are currently in the "opening animation" stage. This number has dropped from the previous 101 games to the current level.

Among these 62 games, 46 are PS Move motion sensing games. Once the compatibility issues of such games are resolved, this popular PS3 simulation tool will be infinitely close to the "project completion" status.
As of now, 73.06% of the games in the PS3 game library are classified as "completely runnable", that is, the game can be fully completed without serious glitches, lags or bugs affecting the play process; another 25.12% of the games are in the "game ready" state, which can be started for play, but cannot be completed completely.
The project started in 2011, and its official introduction is as follows:
RPCS3 is a cross-platform open source Sony PlayStation 3 emulator and debugging tool written in C++ and supports Windows, Linux, macOS and FreeBSD systems. This project aims to rely on the power of the open source community and reverse engineering technology to completely and accurately simulate all functions of the Sony PlayStation 3 entertainment console.
Our goal is to port the PS3 console and its exclusive games to the PC platform, preserving the legacy of this classic console and its massive game library. We hope to achieve this goal by adapting to multiple operating systems and being compatible with various computer configurations under reasonable hardware requirements.
This is a huge project, and of great significance - after all, most PS3 games have previously only been able to run on the original console. The success of the project also prompted the development of another similar emulator, designed to retain the PlayStation 4 game library intact.
Although a lot of progress has been made in porting many classic PS3 masterpieces, there are still a large number of games that are difficult to experience conveniently. Works such as the "Killzone" and "Resistance" trilogy, the "Infamous" two-part series, and "Ratchet and Clank" are still only playable on the original console or through an emulator.
It is worth mentioning that the much-anticipated blockbuster region-locked game "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" has been confirmed to be included in "Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection Part 2", which means there is one less game to conquer. In addition, the first three works in the "God of War" series are also being remade.
Even so, gamers have long awaited the launch of native emulation capabilities on Sony's current consoles, just like the Xbox consoles. Prior to this, players could only experience it through "streaming", and this method was far from as stable and reliable as it sounds.
