As the president and representative director of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa is looking forward to the upcoming milestone anniversaries of "Super Mario Bros.", "The Legend of Zelda" and "Pokémon Red and Green". He is also planning how Nintendo can break through the traditional game field and achieve success in more multimedia projects.

During the investor Q&A session after the release of Nintendo's latest financial report, Shuntaro Furukawa responded whether the company would develop exclusive publicity plans for commemorative events for these blockbuster IPs. His statement clearly shows that although Nintendo maintains a cautious attitude, it also sees growing opportunities in the field of film, television and video content-such opportunities are not limited to theatrical movies, but also cover a variety of content forms and communication platforms.
"The upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the second theatrical movie that Nintendo has actively participated in the production of, so we are paying close attention to market feedback. We hope that the response to this film will bring positive knock-on effects to many areas, including the exclusive game platform business."
Shuntaro Furukawa also mentioned the progress of another blockbuster adaptation, but also cautioned that the company was not rushing it. "We have officially announced that the "Legend of Zelda" live-action movie scheduled to be released in 2027 has officially started filming...but at this stage, we cannot disclose information related to the production of other movies." At present, Nintendo seems to be focusing on ensuring the success of these two high-profile films and will not announce subsequent film and television projects for the time being.
In addition to theatrical movies, Shuntaro Furukawa also revealed Nintendo's broader video content layout. He mentioned Nintendo Pictures and its recent Pikmin-related short film project. "The Pikmin short film "Close to You" released last year was produced by Nintendo Pictures, a subsidiary of Nintendo. We have never had the opportunity to introduce this company's business to the outside world, and this short film is undoubtedly a good opportunity to let the public understand this layout." This shows that Nintendo is trying to produce small-scale film and television content and reach audiences through new forms of streaming media and digital distribution.
"We believe that in addition to feature-length movies released in theaters, there are many possibilities for the creation of video content." Shuntaro Furukawa added, "If these initiatives can bring joy to fans and increase the value of our IP, they will become valuable long-term assets, so we will continue to try new content creation."
