Sony is reportedly working on another Venom movie, and this time, it will be animated. The extent to which this unexpectedly exposed new animated work will fit in with the plot of the recent live-action trilogy starring Tom Hardy has yet to be determined; the plot direction, casting details and release date of the film are also currently unknown.

Sony is producing

Although this new "Deadly Guardian" story is still in the early stages of development, the team behind it has already tapped a number of well-known names in the industry. "Bloodline" duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will serve as directors for this animated feature film. Although the two are new creators in the Marvel Universe, they achieved market success with last year's "Dead Man" reboot. Representative works of the two collaborations also include the 2019 live-action "Hot Girl" movie, 2018's "Freak", and several episodes of the TV series "Mecha X4".

It is reported that senior producers of the "Venom" series Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Matt Tomach will all participate in the production of this animated film, but the specific extent of their participation is currently unclear. Hardy will also be involved in the project, but there's no word yet on whether he will return to voice Eddie Brock after completing his live-action trilogy with Venom: The Last Dance. Currently, Sony Animation has started story development for the film, but has not yet finalized a specific screenwriter.

Although the "Venom" animated film is likely to open up a new direction in story and character creation, if Sony chooses to directly continue the plot of the live-action trilogy, the film still has plenty of creative space. The live-action trilogy starring Hardy only briefly mentioned the core Marvel character of the symbiote god Gnar, and one of the post-credits Easter eggs in "Venom: The Last Dance" also hinted that the character will have a major role in the future. Although Venom has a deep connection with Spider-Man, due to complex copyright agreements, the series has rarely introduced Spider-Man related content, which has always been criticized by the audience. It is still unclear whether these two characters will finally be able to share the same screen after moving to the animation field.

Currently, the work on the film is still in progress. We will most likely have to wait for a while to learn more information, and the official release of the film will have to wait even longer.
