OpenAI is preparing a new mid-range subscription plan for ChatGPT, with a monthly fee of US$100, positioned between the current Plus and Pro paid plans. ChatGPT currently offers a free version (subject to usage quotas) and a $200-a-month Pro version, which provides full access to the chatbot’s most advanced features.

Developer Tibor Blaho revealed on social platform X that he discovered a new plan called "Pro Lite" on the checkout page, priced at $100 per month. From a positioning point of view, this plan will be targeted at those users who have higher demand for usage quota but are unwilling or unable to afford the $200 monthly Pro fee. According to the page description, Pro Lite will provide unlimited access to OpenAI’s top models, unlimited use of advanced speech features, and unlimited quotas for image and video generation.
Additionally, Pro Lite is described as including "speed-prioritized" Codex programming agent access. Code snippets found by Blaho suggest that Pro Lite may offer about 3 to 5 times the quota for "deep inference model" usage compared to the Plus plan. However, the text on the checkout page still looks like a "draft in development" and details may continue to be adjusted before the official launch.
As of now, OpenAI has not officially announced this new subscription plan. Interestingly, about two weeks ago, on the OpenAI community forum, a user posted a suggestion to launch a subscription tier with a monthly fee of US$100. This proposal was supported by many members of the community. Now it seems that OpenAI is quickly responding to this call and bringing similar solutions to the market.
If eventually launched, ChatGPT Pro Lite may become an ideal choice for researchers, freelancers, and programmers who want to use the platform's most advanced models and capabilities while still wanting to be more affordable. For OpenAI, this mid-range option also helps attract a wider base of paying users. Users who currently subscribe to the $20 Plus plan may upgrade to the $100 tier in the future due to higher credits and richer features.
