The Diablo series isn't known for releasing new games frequently - only five games have been released in 30 years - but that may change in the future. In an interview with "Variety", "Diablo 4" executive producer and vice president Gevian Wishaw revealed that Blizzard hopes to launch more than five "Diablo" games in the next 30 years.

Although Wishaw sidestepped questions about whether new games in the series will be announced at BlizzCon this September, he did talk about Blizzard's long-term plans for the series.
"When you're talking about a series that's been around for 20 years and that players are still passionate about and continue to play and are excited about new content, it's a bit complicated," Wishaw said. "In the grand scheme of things, I think in the past 30 years of Diablo, we've released five games. So I hope that in the next 30 years, we can do more, and maybe the release rhythm can be faster."
Prior to this interview, Blizzard had just held the 30th anniversary exhibition of "Diablo", announcing that "Diablo 2", "Diablo 4" and "Diablo Immortal" will usher in new professions, and revealed more details about the upcoming second expansion pack "Lord of Hatred" for "Diablo 4".

Blizzard president Johanna Faris revealed in the same interview that "more content behind the scenes" will be revealed at BlizzCon, and that in addition to game works, Blizzard is working hard to expand its IP such as "Warcraft", "Overwatch" and "Diablo" beyond the gaming field. She said that there have been "recent discussions" in almost every series, and Blizzard is discussing what format and creative team to choose to "present Blizzard's world to new audiences in a high-quality way."
"We want to attract new fans who may not have been with us in the past 35 years," Farris said. "How to continue to enter the Hollywood or film and television fields on a larger scale may become an important part of achieving this goal in the short term."
The "Lord of Hatred" expansion pack for "Diablo 4" will be released on April 28. By then, the expansion will completely overhaul the game's existing skill tree, adding new options and removing passive skills. As for what to expect at BlizzCon, Blizzard has already teased big news for its major series, and recent reports suggest that a StarCraft-themed shooting game may also be announced.
