The latest news from South Korea's local industry chain shows that Samsung has increased the initial production plan for the upcoming flagship model Galaxy S26 Ultra, adding about one million units to the production target in the first two months of sales.

Reports pointed out that Samsung originally planned to produce approximately 2.5 million to 2.9 million Galaxy S26 Ultra units within the first two months of launch. Now this number has been increased to approximately 3.5 million to 3.9 million units, a significant increase. Although production has been significantly increased, sources emphasized that this adjustment is not because Samsung is suddenly optimistic about the sales performance of the phone in the early stages of sales, but due to cost considerations.

It is said that Samsung expects that semiconductor prices will continue to rise this year, so it has chosen to produce an additional batch of Galaxy S26 Ultra models during the current relatively low-cost time window in order to smooth the pressure in the form of "inventory" in the subsequent higher-cost stage. In other words, this production increase is more in response to expectations of higher production costs in the future, rather than simply reflecting a sudden rise in market demand.

It should be noted that this statement still comes from so-called "industry insiders", and its authenticity has not been officially confirmed, so the outside world still needs to remain cautious. The report also mentioned that although the production plan for the first two months has been increased, the overall production planning volume of Galaxy S26 Ultra in the first year of its launch has not changed.

Samsung currently expects the total production of Galaxy S26 Ultra to be approximately 18 million units in the first year of its launch. This number occupies an absolute dominant position within the S26 series. In contrast, the combined production plan for the standard Galaxy S26 and the large-screen Galaxy S26+ in the first year is only about 12 million units, further highlighting Samsung's emphasis on and expectations for the sales performance of Ultra models in the high-end market.
