Before the arrival of MWC 2026, AMD very quietly released a new generation of EPYC 8005 series processors.Codename "Sorano" (Sorano, a small town in Italy).It is the successor of the Seina EPYC 8004 series and stillIt is positioned for intelligent edge applications such as retail, manufacturing, and telecommunications, as well as data center applications such as cloud services and storage.
Very few technical specifications details have been announced, and even the SKU model has not been made public.
Currently, we only know that the architecture has been upgraded from Zen4c to Zen5c, with a maximum of 84 cores (an increase of 20) and a maximum thermal design power consumption of 225W (unchanged).

According to the official statement, the main advantages of the EPYC 8005 series are:
-Wide temperature operating range, to meet the needs of various harsh environments.
-Supports NEBS-compliant platforms, suitable for harsh environments and outdoor communication deployment.
-High core count per channel, enabling smaller device size.
New products will be available in the coming weeks.
