In a recent interview, Jared Neuss, the executive producer of Blizzard's "Overwatch 2", hinted that Blizzard will make considerable changes to its profit model. The "goal" is to make new heroes available to players for free at the beginning of the new season.
"Overwatch 2" is currently selling a premium battle pass, allowing players to immediately unlock new heroes in the season. However, Jared Neuss said in an interview: "Do I hope that every player can experience the hero at the end of the season? Yes."
Then Jared Neuss continued: "Do I think we're going to get there? Yes, I do think we're going to get there, and we're actively working on it. Can I talk about the details now? No, I can't."
Regarding the issue of "pay-to-win" content in the current pass system of "Overwatch 2", which is mainly due to the fact that new heroes can only be experienced by paying players in the early stages of the season and may disrupt the balance, Jared Neuss said that the team will ensure that this issue is balanced in a fair manner.
Jared Neuss mentioned that players can "get every hero without having to buy it," but he also admitted that there may indeed be an imbalance before non-paying players can get new heroes. "This is one of the reasons why we want to change the future model."
