According to domaininvesting, OpenAI appears to have acquired the GPT.com domain name. If you visit GPT.com, you will be redirected to ChatGPT.com. OpenAI acquired Chat.com last year, and the domain name will also jump to the ChatGPT website. GPT is the abbreviation of Generative Pre-trained Transformer.

GPT.com is currently registered with MarkMonitor's corporate domain registrar as DNStination Inc. DNStination is MarkMonitor's Whois privacy provider. This means it’s impossible to conclude that the domain is owned by OpenAI, but it does seem fishy that MarkMonitor’s customers were acquiring such a domain and forwarding it to other companies’ websites.
Chat.com and OpenAI.com are also registered with MarkMonitor, but neither domain uses Whois privacy protection.
Prior to its transfer to MarkMonitor, the GPT.com domain name was registered with Network Solutions and privacy measures were implemented. The domain appears to be transferred to MarkMonitor in late 2025.
Last night, the media received an email from DomainIQ, reminding that the domain name server had changed. This means that GPT.com recently started forwarding traffic to the ChatGPT website.
Archive.org shows that GPT.com had been forwarding traffic to GPTA.com.au, the website of an Australian company called Global Payment Technologies Australia Pty Ltd.
