On March 3, the official account of Musk's Starlink announced on theOfficial said. "The V2 satellite will seamlessly support streaming, internet browsing, high-speed applications and voice calls just like it is connected to the terrestrial network."

It is reported that,Starlink Mobile (Starlink Mobile Service) was formerly known as "Direct to Cell Service". It has just completed its name change recently. It currently covers 32 countries on six continents and can realize data, voice and SMS communications from satellites to mobile phones. Compared with traditional mobile service providers, the core advantage of this service is connectivity anytime and anywhere. In emergency scenarios, the stability of space communications is far better than that of terrestrial networks.

However, limited by the existing V1 satellite, the current service can only support lightweight data and text messages. This V2 satellite upgrade has become the key to breaking through this limitation.

According to the plan, with the deployment of V2 satellites, the peak user speed is expected to reach 150Mbps. Space X currently plans to launch up to 15,000 V2 satellites, but some V2 Mini satellites have been launched first to fill the current service gap. Foreign media predict that the V2 service may be tested for the first time in early 2027.
