On March 3, netizen "Did Mengxi Sleep?" posted on social platforms, claiming that Meituan's AI browser Tabbit plagiarized the code of its personal product Duduwa, and released a comparison picture of the interfaces of the two products.

Later, the netizen released video evidence on X, indicating that the name of Tabbit's icon file is still read-frog. Netizens said that according to the GPL agreement, products using his code need to be open source, but Meituan has not open sourced Tabbit.
In response, Tabbit officially responded,At that time, the repository in the read-frog project did not contain any open source license statement. After evaluation, the team forked the project and developed it as an independent project. Although our fork code behavior occurred before the project added a clear open source license, we fully respect and understand the original author's ownership of the project and its protocol choice. This translation project will be removed from the new version of Tabbit browser, and the project will be fully open sourced.

However, the netizen disagreed with this response.

It is reported that Tabbit is an AI native browser launched by Meituan Lightyear’s team. It launched a free public beta on March 2.Supports macOS and Windows. With AI Agent as its core, it can automatically complete tasks such as web page operations, information extraction, and report generation, and supports trick reuse processes and script-customized web pages. The built-in Meituan LongCat large model can switch between multiple AIs, focusing on efficient office work.
