Recently,Lei Jun talked about the development of China's automobile industry in media exchanges. He bluntly said that in the past fifteen to twenty years, China's automobiles have made extremely rapid progress, but their advantages are mainly concentrated in the two major sectors of electrification and intelligence. In many fields related to mechanical quality and automobile architecture, we still have to learn from German and Japanese companies. We still have a long way to go in this regard.

In order to strengthen its capabilities in mechanical quality, Xiaomi Motors established a European R&D and Design Center in Munich, Germany in early 2025, and attracted a number of local world-class designers and technical experts.

Lei Jun pointed out that only by going deep into the most competitive market in the world can we truly create high-quality automotive products.

Facing a new round of changes in the industry, Lei Jun has clarified Xiaomi's future technological innovation priorities and will continue to focus on the research and development of key core technologies such as chips, operating systems, and artificial intelligence.

At the same time, the company will also increase investment in areas such as integrated circuits, embodied intelligence, and 6G.

Coincidentally, Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motors, also expressed similar views at the company's annual meeting.

He believes that China's automobile industry, including Great Wall, still has a clear gap compared with outstanding global companies. The gap is not small, but "very large."

Wei Jianjun emphasized that the road to car manufacturing is long and requires learning from European, American, Japanese and Korean companies, and maintaining a humble and solid learning attitude.
