Technology columnist David Pogue's new work "Apple: The First 50 Years" will be officially released on March 10, local time, in both hardcover and digital formats. This new book, with a total of 608 pages, was released just as Apple is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 1. It systematically sorts out Apple’s development over the past half century.

According to the introduction, Pogue interviewed 150 key influential figures in Apple's history for this book, including company co-founder Steve Wozniak, former CEO John Sculley, former chief design officer Jony Ive, etc., to provide readers with an inside perspective of Apple from its entrepreneurial stage to an industry giant. Although many historical nodes of Apple have been widely recorded, the publisher emphasized in the official introduction that this book will use a large number of first-hand interview materials and archives to supplement previously little-known details and correct some errors in the existing narrative.

According to the official introduction, this book will completely tell the story of Apple's entire process from its birth, to the brink of bankruptcy, to its "rebirth" after the return of Steve Jobs, to its growth into the world's most valuable company under the leadership of CEO Tim Cook. The book is equipped with color pictures and focuses on presenting the "disruptive" characteristics of Apple's corporate culture. At the same time, through new interviews with many key figures, it attempts to restore the stories behind some important products and decisions.

Pogue currently serves as a special correspondent for the CBS Sunday Morning column. He has written reviews of Apple and consumer technology in media such as the New York Times and Macworld for many years, and has long been concerned about Apple products and ecology. Currently, CBS News has published excerpts focusing on the life of late co-founder Steve Jobs and his profound impact on Apple.

As the new book is about to be released, Pogue has also launched an intensive media promotion schedule. He has published excerpts from the book in many media and accepted many exclusive interviews. He recently had a long conversation with Apple CEO Tim Cook, having an in-depth exchange of views on Apple's upcoming 50th anniversary and the company's future development, and appeared on the CBS morning show to introduce a new book. In addition, Pogue will also have a dialogue with Phil Schiller, Apple's former senior vice president of global marketing, at the "South by Southwest" (SXSW 2026) conference in Austin, Texas, on March 18 at 3:30 pm to continue the discussion around Apple's history and brand.

Apple was officially founded on April 1, 1976 and is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary. So far, Apple has not announced a large-scale celebration plan for the public, but it is widely expected in the industry that Apple will commemorate this milestone in some form in the next few weeks, and Pogue's new book is also regarded as an important piece of the puzzle in Apple's "50th anniversary narrative."
