Recently, the Shenzhen Vocational and Technical University’s “Think Tank Fire Fighting” student team successfully developed a millisecond-level rapid fire extinguishing patch for electrical fires. This product can extinguish fire at the source in the early stages of a fire, effectively filling the industry shortcomings in early prevention and control of electrical fires in small and complex spaces. At present, the team has applied for 3 core patents and 15 related patents, laying a solid technical foundation for product industrialization.
This new fire-extinguishing patch integrates a number of key technologies to not only achieve millisecond-level rapid response, but also adjust the trigger temperature according to the needs of different scenarios.

Using a new core material compounded of hydrofluoroether and fluoroketone, the fire extinguishing effect is 1+1>2; the self-developed microfluidic chip allows the trigger temperature to be customized by controlling the thickness of the capsule shell inside the patch. When the ambient temperature reaches the set threshold, the capsule will rupture and release the fire extinguishing agent to quickly extinguish the fire source.
At the same time, the pouring process has been improved so that the appearance of the patch can be changed at will, adapting to various small and complex space layouts to meet the protection needs of different scenarios.
In addition, the patch does not need to be connected to electricity or manual operation. It adopts an adhesive-backed design and can be applied and used immediately. It perfectly solves the pain points of traditional fire-fighting equipment being bulky, cumbersome to operate, and not responding promptly to initial small fires.

During the research and development process, the team relied on high-quality resources such as Shenzhen Urban Public Safety Technology Research Institute, BYD Institute of Applied Technology, and Shenzhen Fire Rescue Bureau to overcome many technical difficulties. The fire-extinguishing patches they developed met the fire-extinguishing requirements for automotive batteries in GB38031-2025.
At present, the patch has achieved small-scale mass production, and has completed multi-scenario product verification in conjunction with BYD and the Shenzhen Fire and Rescue Bureau, and the results have met expectations.
