A thrilling scene occurred in a scenic spot in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province on March 8. A 5-year-old boy was dragged off a cliff about 10 meters deep by the monkey mother who was eager to protect the baby because he was teasing a wild monkey.Fortunately, a branch blocked the child during the fall, buying time for subsequent rescue.

At 15:00 on the day of the incident, when the boy was playing in the scenic spot with his family, he was attracted by the little monkey on the roadside and came up to tease him. The mother monkey suddenly became violent and dragged the boy off the cliff. Upon seeing this, the child's father immediately jumped off the cliff to rescue him. In the end, both father and son were trapped under the cliff.

Fire rescue personnel rushed to the scene after receiving the alarm from the child's mother. After investigation, it was found that the slope of the mountain where the father and son were trapped exceeded 70 degrees, and the terrain was steep, making rescue extremely difficult.

The rescuers immediately used the surrounding trees to set up safety anchors and set up a rope multiplier system. A rescuer descended to the trapped position through a rope. He first put on a full-body safety sling for the boy and held it on his chest, then smoothly transferred him to a safe area. Then he successfully rescued the father. The entire rescue process lasted nearly an hour.

Apart from being frightened and suffering minor abrasions, the father and son were not seriously injured.According to the child's father's recollection, it was a branch in the middle of the cliff that blocked the child and prevented more serious injuries.

The fire department reminds that the behavior of wild animals is unpredictable, and even seemingly docile animals may attack in self-defense or to protect their cubs.

When visiting scenic spots, tourists should keep a safe distance of at least 5 meters from wild animals, avoid provocative behaviors such as feeding and teasing, and obey warning signs in scenic spots to ensure their own safety to the greatest extent.
