Unlike Alibaba, AliExpress, Temu and other peers that adopt an asset-light model and ship directly from China,JD.com has its own local warehousing and logistics network to minimize delivery time. This model has proven successful in China. JD.com has built a vast logistics network in the country to enable ultra-fast delivery and has established itself as a destination for domestic consumers to buy global brands such as Apple.

JD.com said that European users can enjoy same-day delivery service if they place orders before 11am, and next-day delivery if they place orders before 23:00. In the UK, shipping is free on orders over £29. Joybuy UK general manager Matthew Nobbs said fast delivery for shoppers in big cities would be a key selling point for the platform.

Joybuy will also be available in official stores of brands including L’Oréal Paris and De’Longhi. These stores are essentially brand areas within the Joybuy app, allowing companies to display official and authentic products. JD.com said it will provide competitive prices.

JD.com is entering a highly competitive European e-commerce market. There are both giants like Amazon and smaller local companies, as well as services from overseas Chinese e-commerce platforms such as AliExpress and Temu.
