As one of the oldest components in Windows systems, Notepad has long been regarded as synonymous with pure text processing. However, this impression is about to be completely overturned.According to reports, Microsoft is sending emails to Insiders, inviting them to test Notepad with the ability to insert pictures.

Previously, this feature had appeared in the toolbar button position in the new feature introduction pop-up window of the Windows Insider testing channel.

Microsoft insiders confirmed that the feature has been in development for several months and is designed to fill the formatting gap left by the retirement of WordPad.Unlike Word and others, Notepad's image support remains lightweight, takes up very little resources, and has minimal impact on system performance.

This is not the only recent improvement of Notepad. After WordPad retired from the stage of history, Microsoft continued to add new features to it, including complete Markdown syntax support and streaming response optimization of AI writing tools.
As well as quickly inserting tables through the toolbar or shortcut keys, all new features can be freely switched in the settings.
